Death

Ethel “Irene” Bowman, age 78, of Blair, passed away Friday, March 2, 2007, at her home. Irene was born June 14, 1928, in Atoka, Oklahoma, to Sam and Omie Annie (Furr) Aterberry. She married Jessie Bowman March 25, 1950, in Vernon, Texas. They lived in Tipton, Oklahoma, for many years before moving to Blair fifteen years ago. Irene was a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to sew and listen to music. She also loved fishing and especially catching perch. Irene was very fond of her dog “Bubba” and loved her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jessie on February 18, 1999, two sisters, Eloise Dudley and Joyce Williamson, and a daughter-in-law, Martha Bowman, Irene is survived by three sons, Jimmy Dale Pierson and wife Deanna of Hobbs, New Mexico, Merlin Bowman of Denver, Colorado, Curtis Bowman of Wichita Falls, Texas; one daughter, Nita Jo Everett of Blair; nine grandchildren, Chad Pierson, Travis Pierson, Kristy Bowman, Merlin Lance Bowman, Keith Curtis Bowman, Jessica Mae Bowman, Cassie Spring, Jennifer Walker, and Jalynn Walker; fifteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. The family will greet friends on Sunday, March 4, 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus. Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm, Monday, March 5, at the First Baptist Church in Tipton with Pastor Harold Gaches officiating. Interment will follow at the Tipton City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
