Death

KANNAPOLIS - Preston Delano Hornbeak, Jr., 50, passed away Friday, Nov. 28, 2014 at his parent's home. Preston was born Feb. 4, 1964 in Cabarrus County to Preston Delano Hornbeak Sr. and Terrie Furr Hornbeak. He was a 1982 graduate of South Rowan where he played football and basketball. He worked for Virginia Fire VSC in service sales; he was a member of Pitts Baptist Church; and he served four years in the Air Force. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph "Joey" Hornbeak and his maternal grandmother, Hazel Gatton Lewis. Survivors include his parents of Kannapolis; a son, "Trey" Preston Delano Hornbeak, III (Ashley); a daughter, Kelli Hornbeak Alley (Chad); three grandchildren, Samuel Lord, Lily Brown, and Emriepreston Alley; and a brother, Scott Hornbeak (Amy); one niece, Jenna Hornbeak, and three nephews, Joey Hornbeak, Hunter Mashburn, and Justin Hornbeak. Visitation and Services: Funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014 at Pitts Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Davis officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:45-2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.  Memorials: In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
