Jeanette Rhodes Wolfe, 83, of Wilmington, died Friday, December 2, 2011, at Davis Health Care. Jeanette was born November 18, 1928, in New Hanover County, to the late Peter Rhodes and Ruth Robinson Rhodes. She was a member of First Christian Church where she was Deacon Emeritus and sang in the choir for many years. She was employed with Sears and then Rhodes Furniture where she retired. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alton R. Wolfe; brother, Oscar Rhodes and sister, Winifred A. Johnson. Survivors include her daughters, Pamela W. Furr and husband Chris of Wilmington, NC and Jennifer W. Dean and husband Brad of Wilmington, NC; grandchildren, Christopher A. Furr and wife Katie of Alexandria, VA, Julie L. Furr, Matthew P. Dean and Zachary R. Dean; great grandson, Noah A. Furr; sister, Verta R. Blake and husband Donald of Chesterfield, VA and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 3pm, Monday, December 5, 2011, at First Christian Church with her grandson Rev. Christopher Alton Furr officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the church, and at other times at 201 Navaho Trail, Wilmington. Burial will take place at 11am, Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at Wilmington National Cemetery. The family wishes to express their heart felt gratitude to the Elders of First Christian Church for their weekly visits and communion. Also to Dr. Marsha Fretwell and her compassionate staff; the loving caregivers at Davis Health Care West Wing 1 and Elderhaus/PACE.
