Death

Pontotoc - Idelle Whitworth Boone Cobb, 89, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 1997 at the North Mississippi Medical Center. She was a retired teacher and insurance agency owner. She was a graduate of Pontotoc High School and Mississippi State College for Women, and she did graduate work at Columbia University in New York. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Pontotoc and served in various capacities in United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Mutual Culture Club and a life member of the Ladies Auxiliaries of the American Legion and the VFW. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Browning Funeral Home Chapel in Pontotoc with the Rev. Kenneth Corley and Rev. David Rhea officiating. Burial will be in Pontotoc City Cemetery. Survivors include her husband, Harvey Cobb of Pontotoc; one son, William Furr Boone Jr. of Farmingham, Mass.; one granddaughter, Phoebe W. Boone; one great-granddaughter, Lindsey Marie Lanci. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Furr Boone, and a grandson, William F. Boone, III. Pallbearers will be James L. Roberts Jr., Gene Clements, Wadelo Waldrop, Dick Fancher, Buddy Montgomery and Preston Campbell. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to service time Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
