Notes
Death
David Lee Provan of Midlothian, TX was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, father in law and friend. He left his earthly body to join the Lord on July 2, 2023 with his family surrounding him at the age of 70. All who were blessed in encountering David, were welcomed into his circle with open arms, endless memes, and "Papaw" jokes. Dave would be the first to tell you, his jokes were hilarious! He always had a funny story to cheer your day and never forgot the things you liked. He'd often tailor his delivery specific to the person and their humor. Dave was a huge Star Trek fan and enjoyed collectibles and going to conventions. He loved tinkering with things and fixing stuff and always took pride in a job well done; be it installing a light or building something out of wood. Born in Evergreen Park, IL, he spent his childhood on the move as his father travelled for work. In 1973, he married the love of his life, joined the United States Navy in 1974 and served his country honorably for 20 years. Upon retirement, he settled with his family in Midlothian and embarked on his second career of continued service to our nation with the Army & Air Force Exchange Service. He enjoyed his retirement from the Exchange in 2016 and took full advantage of this gift of time by traveling the world and creating incredible memories with his loved ones. David leaves behind his wife, Linda, daughter Teena and her husband Lyle, and his son Chris and his wife Jessica and 5 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. His brothers James, Philip, and John mourn his passing along with their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, James William Provan, Sr. and Alice Louise Furr Provan, brothers Mark and Robert, and sister Cynthia. We will be celebrating the life of David on July 7th, 2023 at the Midlothian Funeral Home with full military honors. David loved with a big heart and he will be dearly missed. Visitation will begin at 1pm and the service will begin at 2pm. The funeral home is located at 200 E Avenue E, Midlothian TX 76065. Following the service, we will proceed to Harvest Hill Church to fellowship. The church is located at 1250 Walter Stephenson Rd, Midlothian TX 76065. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to DAV (Disabled American Veterans).Endnotes
