KANNAPOLIS - Opal Clove Smith Treece, 78, 4424 Enochville Road, died Friday (Aug. 31, 2001) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord, after one year of declining health and four months of serious illness. Born Dec. 13, 1922, in Stanly County, Mrs. Treece was a daughter of the late William Andy and Hattie Mae Talbert Smith. She retired from Cannon Mills Co. in 1984, where she worked in Plant 4, weave room 2. She was a member of Kannapolis Alliance Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Odis Raymond Treece, in May 1986; sons Bobby Ray and James William Treece; daughter Sara Lou Treece; one grandson; and one great-granddaughter. Survivors include son Kenneth O. Treece, Kannapolis; daughter Kathryn T. Miller, Kannapolis; brothers Harvey and Curtis Smith, both of Albemarle; sister Latrue S. Smith, Albemarle; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Kannapolis Alliance Church, conducted by the Rev. Kenneth McQueen. Internment will be at Zion Methodist Church Cemetery, Gold Hill. Visitation: 7 to 9 tonight, Whitley's Funeral Home. Memorials: American Diabetes Association, Metrolina Office, 1820 E.
