Death
Margie Grant Treece, 60, of Hamlet, died Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at her home. She was born April 6, 1949, in Marlboro County, S.C., a daughter of Loyd Grant Sr. and the late Eula Mae Robinson Grant. Mrs. Treece was a graduate of Hamlet High School and Richmond Technical Institute. She was employed with FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital in the Rehab Department and was a member of Joy Free Will Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 25, in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe with the Rev. Loyd "June" Grant Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery. Surviving is her daughter, Mary Hope Treece, of the home; her father, Loyd Grant Sr., of Hamlet; her brother, the Rev. Loyd "June" Grant Jr., his wife, Judith Ann Grant, and their daughter, Wendy Grant Mabe, all of Hamlet; a cousin, Lois Ann Platts, her husband, Ernie, and their daughter, Chelsea, all of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; six aunts, Gladys Quick and Grace Stubbs, both of Bennettsville, S.C., Lois Caulfield, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Vera Carter, of Ellerbe, Nancy Robinson and Bea Powell, both of Rockingham; three uncles, Earl Robinson and Dean Robinson, both of Bennettsville, S.C., and Cecil Robinson, of Hamlet; and several other cousins. Mrs. Treece was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob "Jake" Treece Jr.; her mother, Eula Mae Grant; and twin sons, Michael John Treece and Larry Wayne Treece. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe and other times at the home, 505 Boyette St., Hamlet.
