Death
Modie came from Santa Anna, Texas to a farm near Kirkland, Childress County in 1905 with her husband, William Pinkney Close, to join her Pieratt family in 1905. She was one of ten children of James Franklin and Martha Ellen Vest Pieratt. Siblings were Henry Floyd, Mary Emma, Willie Florence, Russ Hamilton, Pearlie Susan, Nannie Gladys, Asa Buford "Dude", Naomi Helen, and Jessie May Pieratt. Pink and Modie had four children, Lela Rosellen who married Roy Furr, Birdie Marie who married Tommie Williamson, William Pinkney Jr who married Jewell Clements, and James Garth Close who married Nona Lee Galbraith.Endnotes
