Notes
Death
On Thursday, January 9, 2025, Glen Durwood Thomas of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away at the age of 94. He was born October 1, 1930 to the late James Alexander and Annie Janski Thomas in Vilonia, Arkansas. In addition to his mother and father, Glen was preceded in death by his two sisters, Billie Jo Knabe and Wanda Lou Koon, and two brothers, Jerry Thomas and Seth Thomas. Glen will be remembered most for the way he provided for his family, both as a young child and as a husband and father later in life. After finishing the 8th grade, Glen left school to begin working to support his mother, father, and five siblings. This work ethic never ceased; he spent 45+ years employed by Kroger and hours working in his shop, as there was rarely something Glen couldn't build, fix, or improve. Together with his wife and son, he built two homes for his family. You would often find Glen sitting on the porch swing, waving or nodding to his children as they pulled up the driveway. Though a man of few words, he had a love for telling jokes to his family, sometimes the same ones over and over. Glen and his wife also shared a love for music that they gifted to their children. He is survived by his devoted wife of 70 years, Vedna Mae Furr Thomas, and their four children: son Steve Thomas (Cindy) of Maumelle, AR, and daughters Carla Bryant (Terry) of Little Rock, AR, Glenda Klappenbach (Mark) of Fordyce, AR, and Donna Strickland of Bixby, OK. In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his sister, Shirley Eslick of Alexander, AR; his eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services to honor Glen's life will be at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Glen will be laid to rest following the service at On Thursday, January 9, 2025, Glen Durwood Thomas of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away at the age of 94.
