Death

Shirley Lorraine Furr Hall, 63, of Hickory passed away on Friday, March 8, 2013, at the Brian Center in Hickory. Born July 10, 1949, in Caldwell County, Shirley was a daughter of Hattie Jane Fox Furr and the late Jay William Furr. She was a member of the Lenoir Pentecostal Church where she played the organ for many years. She had a love for music and enjoyed working on crafts. She will be remembered by her friends and family for having a heart of gold. In addition to her mother, Shirley is survived by two daughters, Ashley Young of Sugar Grove, and Michelle Johnson and husband Will of Hillsborough; a son, Donald Hall Jr. and wife Samantha of Glen Alpine; two sisters, Sandra Whitt of Baton and Pat Greer of Setzer’s Creek; Shirley is also survived by seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild and numerous other relatives. A memorial service celebrating Shirley’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 12, at 2 p.m. at the Lenoir Pentecostal Church with Pastor Tim Elliott officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. The family requests memorials are made to the family at 2314 George Anderson Drive, Hillsborough, NC 27278.
