William Ray Furr 'Bill' LOCUST -- Mr. Furr, 65, of 735 Redah Ave., Locust, died Friday, July 3, 2009, at Stanly Regional Medical Center. He was born August 3, 1943, in Cabarrus County. Visitation Sunday, July 5, 2009, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hartsell Funeral Home-Midland. Service Monday, July 6, 2009, 4:00 PM at Bethel United Methodist Church in Midland with the Rev. Mark Clontz and the Rev. Neil Crowell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will meet at the home. Mr. Furr was Park & Recreation Supervisor for Mecklenburg County and a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. Survivors include wife Mary Jane (Carriker) Furr of Locust; mother Elsie Aleta (William) Furr of Stanfield; sister Joyce Carpenter and husband Greg of Pittsboro; and special friends Benjamin and Libby Stegall and Deanna and Jeff Parker. He was preceded in death by father James 'Pete' Wilson Furr. Memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church Building Fund, 12700 Idlebrook Road, Midland, NC 28107.
