Death

Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Lou Benton, 77, of 1241 Pegram St., who died Saturday at her home, were held today at 2 p.m. at McEwen Funeral Home. The Rev. Lee P. Barnett, pastor of Belmont Park Methodist Church, officiated. Interment was in Sharon Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Benton was born July 8, 1881, in Union County, daughter of the late William and Isabell Clontz Pressley. She was a member of Belmont Park Methodist Church, Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Stokes Gordon of Monroe, and Mrs. Eva Alexander, Mrs. Ernest Turner, Mrs. Betts Hamilton and Mrs. Lester A. Furr, all of Charlotte; two sons, Glenn M. Benton of Davidson and William H. Benton of Charlotte; and a brother, Lemuel Presley of Spartanburg.
