Death

Beulah Mae Hailey Furr, 71, of 1706 Hylan Ave., Hamlet, died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009 at Carolinas Medical Center Union in Monroe. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19, at King’s Gate Church with Apostle Eddie McLean, Rev. Michael Hicks and Rev. Ralph Walker officiating. Interment will follow in the Edith Ruth Furgeson Cemetery in Vass. A life-long resident of Richmond County, Ms. Furr was born on Aug. 16, 1938 to the late John and Emma Norton Hailey. She was a cook and a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Furr Sr. and a daughter, Betty Brown. She is survived by three sons, Roger Hailey of Rockingham, Jerry Kimball of Hamlet and Andy Furr of Raleigh; a brother Johnny Hailey of Laurel Hillf; three sisters, Mary O’Connell of Panama City, Fl., Lois Brown of Hamlet, Sally Gibson of Laurel Hill; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at King’s Gate Church. Russell-Marks Funeral Home is serving the family.
