Death

MOUNT PLEASANT - Shannon Denise Brooks Furr, 32, went home to be with her Lord, Thursday, July 14, 2005, at UNC Chapel Hill. Her lifelong fight with cystic fibrosis ended after a wonderful week of being able to breath. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Gene Edwards will officiate. Interment will follow at Cabarrus Memorial Gardens, Concord. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Whitley’s Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home of Johnny and Shirley Furr, 3825 Sapdale Drive, Rockwell. They can be reached at 704-786-3382. Born April 12, 1973, in Cabarrus County, she was a daughter of Carol Brooks and Bessie Lowery Brooks. She was educated in the Cabarrus County schools and graduated from Macon Inst., Macon, Ga. She was a wonderful and loving wife and mother. Survivors, in addition to her parents, include her husband, Johnny R. Furr, of the home; son, Johnathan Forrest Furr, of the home; daughter, Lillian Brook Furr, of the home; brother Johnny Ray Van Hoy and his children, of Richfield; sister, Avery Lee Whitley and her son, Chase Spivey, of Richfield; grandmother, Oddessa Brooks, of Albemarle; uncle, Jesse Brooks, of Albemarle; and aunt, Hazel Lowery, of Laurenburg. Her loving mother, Bessie, of the home, gave unending support to her and her family. Mrs. Furr’s health prevented her from being active in the church, but she was loved and supported by Genesis Baptist Church, Blackwelder Park Baptist Church and Lane Street Baptist Church.
