Death
HOLLY SPRINGS - Bart Tomlinson Jr., 74, died Thursday, May 5, 2005, at Baptist Memorial Hospital East in Memphis. He was born July 22, 1930, in Holly Springs to Silas Barton Tomlinson and Bessie Mae Furr. He was a city alderman for eight years and alderman-at-large for four years. He was the owner and opertor of Western Auto for 36 years. He also worked as an air traffic controller for 15 years. He was a Century 21 real estate broker and a cattleman for 30 years. He was a director of Merchants & Farmers Bank. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean conflict. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Holly Springs. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Holly Springs Funeral Home with Bro. Truman Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Holly Springs. Survivors include his wife, Dottie Jean Huggins Tomlinson of Holly Springs; a son, Kenneth Bart Tomlinson of Olive Branch; three daughters, Tamara Overall of Olive Branch, Cyndi Troskey of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Sarah Kaye Johnson of Acworth, Ga.; a brother, Leslie Tomlinson of Holly Springs; a sister, Bertie Jewel Boone of Holly Springs; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be David Bennett, Marc Boone, Larry Hutchens, Marshall Tomlinson, Ronni Hangey, Mitch Tomlinson Jr., Byrne Carpenter, Stanley Herington and R.D. Derrick. Honorary pallbearers will be the directors of the Merchants & Farmers Bank.Endnotes
