Death
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife and mother Mrs. Erika Furr. She peacefully passed away on March 11, 2023, at 1:21 am after a week-long stay in the intensive care unit at Evans Army Hospital. We are so grateful for the medical staff that took such good care of her. She was born on July 6th, 1932, in Memmingen, Germany (in Bavaria), to her parents Johanness and Anna Barbara Fackler. She met and married her husband, Gene Furr while he was stationed in Stuttgart Germany. They married on June 27, 1958 in Bernhausen, Germany. Throughout her life, Mrs. Furr embodied the true spirit of resilience, courage, sacrifice and grace. As the devoted spouse of a military serviceman, she traveled extensively across the country and around the world. Despite the challenges and uncertainties of 30 years of military life, she remained steadfast in her love and support for her husband and family, never once faltering in her commitment to give her children the life she knew they deserved. Her unwavering strength, compassion, and dedication to her family and community earned her the respect and admiration of all who knew her. She received countless awards and accolades for her volunteer work in the communities her family resided in. During her life, Mrs. Furr was a woman of faith who touched the lives of countless individuals and left an indelible mark on the world. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed by her husband, Gene; her children Johann, Barbara (Charlie), Bill, (Juanita), Rosi (Don); her grandchildren, Kirsten, Brandy, Erik, Kristina, Steffanie, Kylie, Mina, Erika; great-grandchildren, Addison, Harper, Lillian, Evangeline, Brooke, and Charlotte. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate her life and the immeasurable impact she had on those around her. May she rest in peace, knowing that her memory will continue to inspire and uplift those she left behind. Services will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church on March 24th at 10:30am. A reception will be held immediately following the service at the church. At 2 pm the family will have a private burial.Published by The Gazette on March 19, 2023
