Death
Lorena May Kelly. CENTER POINT — On this day of Aug. 12, 2010, my Mom’s heavenly family and friends stand beside our Lord Jesus and welcome his daughter home! She was born on Oct. 13, 1939, to my grandpa and grandma, Noah and Dortha Furr. Her accomplishments in this life are many and failures none. When Mom set out to do a thing, it was simply done. She lived a great many of her last years in Camp Wood, Texas, next to the Nueces River, with my Dad who knew her very well indeed. He once scoffed at her when she said she would build a house because she absolutely hated her trailer ... he got his house and she got out of the trailer. This house was built entirely of the river rock at the foot of the property, each rock washed and set by her ... the footer dug 24-inches deep with a two-tine tiller, all over a span of some 20 years, and she weighed in at 95 pounds! A little lady with no idea that it couldn’t be done. They got their house, four bedrooms, two baths and three fireplaces! Mom gave birth to two boys, my brother, Bobby Ray Kelly, who sadly left us to hold the door open for her a few years ago ... and myself, Arthur Kelly Jr., or as Grandpa named me, Bubba. Mom was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Kelly Sr.; her youngest son, Bobby Kelly; her mom and dad, Dortha and Noah Furr; and her sister, Yvonne Williams. She is survived by myself and my wife, Anna Kelly, who called her “Mom;” her two sisters, Connie Jacob and Regena Schulz-Hill; three grandchildren, Jason Kelly, Lorena Kelly and Elaine Kelly; four great-grandsons; and a host of nephews and nieces ... all of whom she has gone to prepare the same welcome for when it is all of our turn. Mom loved her Lord Jesus with all her heart and believed that her home with Him was in place as promised ... she got her home! For a span I have lost my rock and my wife her hero ... hold the door, Mom! We love you so! Memorial services will be Sunday, Aug. 15, at 2 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels, officiated by the Rev. Chris Christopherson. If you feel moved to make a donation in her name, please do so to the wonderful, wonderful people of Peterson Hospice who do so much and give even more. She loved all her angels from hospice. The family invites you to send condolences at www.grimesfuneralchapels.com by selecting the “Send Condolences” link. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville.Published Kerrville Daily Times, August 13, 2010
