Death
CONCORD - Larry Wilson Barringer, 73, of Miami Church Road, passed away at his home on Friday morning. His funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, at Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church, officiated by the Rev. T.C. Plexico, the Rev. Randy Clipp and the Rev. Brad Jones. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, with military rites rendered by the DAV Honor Guard Chapter 12 of Albemarle. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, at Wilkinson Funeral Home. Larry was born on Aug. 9, 1936, in Cabarrus County, to the late Samuel and Lillian Allen Barringer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a member of Kerr Memorial Baptist Church, serving as church treasurer for over 30 years, and a longtime friend of the congregation of Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church. Larry was a longtime employee of the former Citizens Savings and Loan and retired from Luxury Hosiery Mill. He served one term on the Concord City Council. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Maxine Furr Barringer. Larry is survived by his wife, Linda Faggart Widenhouse Barringer, of the home; son, Michael Barringer, of Columbia, S.C.; stepson, Mark Widenhouse and wife, Tammy, of Mount Pleasant; stepdaughter, Tonya Gill, of Mount Pleasant; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Stephen and Matthew Widenhouse, and Tiffany and Tyler Gill; and brother, Jerry Barringer and wife Terri of Arcadia, Calif. The family sends a special thanks to CMC-NorthEast Oncology Department, Dr. Thomas Steffens and his nurse, Carey, and to Dr. Brent Kelly of Cabarrus Family Medicine for their kindness and caring ways during Larry's illness. Memorials may be sent to Kerr Memorial Baptist Church, 25 N.C. Highway 49 S., Concord, NC 28025, or to Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church, 3600 U.S. Highway 601 S., Concord, NC 28025.
