Death

REDDING - Donna K. Laughlin passed away January 28, 2008, at her residence, after a long struggle with cancer. She peacefully passed away in her sleep in the company of close friends and family. Born on December 10, 1946, in Vallejo, CA. Donna spent her childhood and early adulthood in the Walnut Creek area. It was there that she began her fruitful career with Pacific Bell. Promoted quickly for her unparalleled performance, it was here that she met her future husband, Dennis K. Laughlin. Captivated by her wit and unprecedented beauty, Dennis proposed promptly and loved her deeply until he relinquished life. Happily married for 20 years, Donna never remarried after his passing. Shortly after the birth of their only daughter, Sarah, the happy new family moved to Redding, CA. Donna remained here with her daughter until finally succumbing to her illness. Though her career had been very successful, she considered motherhood to be her greatest joy and source of passion. In this, like everything else she attempted, she excelled. The bond she shared with her daughter was one that is highly coveted and rarely achieved. She will be dearly missed by all those who had the honor of knowing her during her selfless and radiant life. Donna truly managed to touch the lives of all those who crossed her path. It is through them that she will live on. She is survived by her daughter, Sarah Laughlin; Stepchildren, Dennis Laughlin, Jr., Kelly Laughlin, and Patricia Laughlin Smith; step-grandchildren Cassandra Smith and Alexandra Laughlin. The memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, February 8, 2008 at McDonald’s Funeral Chapel, 1275 Continental St., Redding, CA 96001.
