Notes
Death
Carol Diane Furr-Bauer passed away peacefully after a 12-year battle with cancer on the morning of January 1, 2023, in Castle Rock, Colorado. She was 64 years old. Born June 19, 1958, to Jeanne and Dorsey Furr in Barstow, California, she was the youngest of three siblings and spent her childhood years in Southern California. After graduating from La Sierra Academy in Riverside, California, she attended Loma Linda University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 1981. It was at university where she married her husband. She graduated with a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in 1986, also from Loma Linda University, and began her career as a therapist. She spent the majority of the next 12 years working and raising her very young children in the Loma Linda area of California. She lived the next 4 years in Grand Rapids, MI and Hackettstown, NJ, before finally settling down in Castle Rock, CO for over 18 years. The final 2 years of her life were spent back in California in Dana Point, where she received alternative cancer therapies. Her last 4 months were spent in hospice care at her home in Castle Rock, surrounded by her loving family. Carol loved living in Colorado. She loved to travel and spend time with family. She had a passion for helping people, including compete strangers. She always gave money to people sleeping on the streets or standing on corners with signs. When she read Same Kind of Different as Me, she started going out of her way to do so. She was an energetic pastor’s wife in both her early and mid-life years, and worked tirelessly putting her husband through medical school. And, above all else, she loved and gave all she had to her family, especially her children and grandchildren. Her passions for art, music, and theater never diminished, even after she began her last difficult years in 2011. Carol is survived by her husband, Michael; mother, Jeanne Furr who resides in Colorado; two brothers, Wayne Furr and his wife Vicki, and Dennis Furr, both of whom live in Colorado; two children, Kevin Bauer and his wife Deana, and Hannah Norris and her husband Jeremy, all of whom also live in Colorado; three grandchildren, Addison, Aiden and Asher; as well as a beloved aunt and dear cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial gathering will be held at Olinger Chapel Hill on 6601 S Colorado Blvd, Centennial, Colorado on January 15 at 1PM. A private gathering for the family will be held after the services at the family home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Denver Rescue Mission in Carol's name.Endnotes
