Death
Grace Elizabeth Furr, of Albemarle, left this world way too soon at the age of 94 on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at Autumn Care in Marshville. Grace was born May 11, 1927 in North Carolina to the late Henry Guy and Ora Cunningham. She was preceded in death by both her husband, Floyd Monroe Furr, and son, Alfred Ray Furr. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. The funeral service will immediately follow on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at 2 p.m. in Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle's Lefler Memorial Chapel officiated by Rev. Percy Cunningham. Burial will follow at the Running Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery at 24671 Millingport Road, Locust. Grace grew up in Greene County, North Carolina during the Great Depression. She was reared by her father and older sister, Nettie, after her mother passed away. The hardships she faced in her childhood did not make her bitter, but rather inspired her to cherish the simple joys of life. Like many young women of her time, she met and fell in love with a soldier from WWII, Floyd. The two married and made a life together in Stanly County. Grace was a faithful wife and a loving mother. She derived great joy from caring for her family. Grace could always be counted on to show up when needed. She shared in all of life's joy and hardships with her family. She was known for bringing laughter, wisdom and a unique perspective to every conversation and situation. As her health declined in the recent months, her wonderful longtime friend, Alice Pickler, cared for her to allow her to live in her home as long as possible. Those who will cherish her memory include sons Lewis Monroe (Pinkie) Furr of Locust, NC, Melvin David (Ranette) Furr of Peachland, NC, Henry Lee (Amanda) Furr of Willow Spring, NC; grandchildren, Jason Lee Furr, Tyler Justin Furr, Jacob Floyd (Caitlin) Furr, Michael Todd (Brittaney) Furr; and great-grandchildren, Emma Grace Furr, Addison Leigh Furr and Ronan Major Furr; along with many nieces, nephews and treasured friends. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Furr family.Published by Stanly News And Press from Aug. 6 to Aug. 7, 2021
