Death
HOUSTON-Armour Leon Estes, age 85, died Saturday, April 2, 2005 at Pillars of Aberdeen. Funeral services were held Monday, April 4 at Houston Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Houston Cemetery with Bro. Luskey Green and Bro. Dexter Beavers officiating. The son of the late Emmitt and Lilly Doty Estes, he was a member and founding father of South Jackson Street Church of Christ. He was the retired owner of Estes Jewelry and Fashion Shoppe, which is the oldest family owned business in Houston, having been in business for over 60 years. Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Bourlan Estes of Houston; one daughter, Annette and John H. Furr of Houston; one son, James and Stephanie Estes of Houston; four grandchildren, Sabrina Rodgers and Shan of Dewitt, AR, Angela Liles and Jeffery and Erin Ruiz and Eric, all of Houston and Dr. Andrea Furr of Flowood and one great grandson, Tripp Rodgers of Dewitt, AR. Pallbearers were Don Blankenship, Shan Rodgers, Eric Ruiz, Rick Huffman, Jeffery Liles and Kyle Lewis.
