Death
Archie (Art) L. Furr, of Mechanicsburg, passed away Monday, September 20, 2010 at Harrisburg Hospital. Born June 16, 1926 in Stanley County, NC, he was the loving son of the late Alanzo and Lona (Turner) Furr. He was preceded in death by sister, Barbara Ann Allman. Archie was a graduate of North Carolina State University with a degree in engineering with graduate work at Syracuse. He was retired, having worked at IBM for 32 years, Wang Lab in New England and in real estate sales. Archie was a member of Silver Spring Presbyterian Church and the Mechanicsburg Club. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, having served on the Lighter than Air blimp squadron in Lakehurst, NJ. Surviving is his wife, Kathleen (Yeager) Furr; 4 children, Cheri Lee Fisher of Mechanicsburg, Durand Furr of New Cumberland, Larry Furr of Mechanicsburg, and Terri Furr of NJ; 5 grandsons; 1 granddaughter; and 3 great grandchildren. A celebration of his life will be held Sat., September 25, 2010, 10 am at Silver Springs Presbyterian Church, 444 Silver Springs Road, Mechanicsburg, with a reception to follow.
