Death

Darla J. Furr, 77, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, November 14, 2013 at her home. She was born June 10, 1936 to A.H. Cobb and Pauline Alvina (Parsons) Ellis in Maud, Oklahoma. Darla was raised in Maud and at the age of 3 ½ years old was the Maud High Band Mascot. She attended Maud Public Schools and graduated from Shawnee High School. Darla worked as a keypunch operator for Federal National Bank in Shawnee before going to work for Canadian Valley Electric Coop and retiring after 24 years of service. She was a member of Tecumseh Round-up Club and Order of Eastern Star. Darla enjoyed camping, horse races, going to the lake and especially spending time with her family and her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold W. Furr; and her parents, A.H. and Pauline Ellis. Darla is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tonya and Ronnie Brookover, of Shawnee; brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Kathy Ellis, of Del City; granddaughter, Reinee and Travis White, of Chandler; 3 great-granddaughters, Kodie, Kashlynn and Kate; 2 nieces, Lori and James Paschall and Marci Straw; great niece; Kamryn Straw; 3 great-nephews, Hunter Straw, Brandon Paschall and Anthoney Paschall; and other relatives and friends. Visitation will begin 4:00 p.m., Monday, November 18, 2013 and continue through service time. Family gathering to meet with friends will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Cooper Funeral Home. Service will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Sharon Baptist Church with Brother Larry Townsend officiating.
