Death
A lingering illness proved fatal Wednesday for Mrs. Laura Josephine Stotts of Sayre. She had been a resident of western Oklahoma for the past 39 years. She was the mother of Mrs. A. W. Gurley in whose home she was living at the time of her death. Her death followed an illness of seven weeks. Death came at the age of 72 years, 10 months and 23 days. Funeral services were held at 2:30 Thursday afternoon from the Delhi Methodist church with Rev. Forrest Wyman, pastor of the First Christian church in Sayre, officiating. Interment was made at the Delhi cemetery by the Moore Funeral home. She was a member of the Christian church. Mrs. Stotts came to this section in 1899, coming here from the Indian territory. She was born at St. Joe, Texas, on December 3, 1865. Coming here in 1869 she was one of the earliest settlers in the newly opened Cheyenne- Arapaho country. Her husband preceded her in death by nine years. Survivors include: Two daughters, Mrs. A. W. Gurley of Sayre, Mrs. N. W. Finch of Amarillo; Two sons, Sim Stotts and Sid Stotts, both of Sayre, 11 grandchildren and sevn great-grandchildren; one brother, James Gibbins of Norman, and one sister, Mrs. A. W.
