Stella Oleta Furr, 87, of Noble, formerly of Liberal, Kan., died Sunday, June 28, at Norman Regional Hospital. Services are pending with Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.The Norman Transcript, June 29, 2009
NORMAN, Okla. – Stella Oleta Furr, 87, died Sunday, June 28, 2009, at Norman Regional Hospital in Norman, Okla. She was born Aug. 15, 1921, to Raleigh Dee McBee and Zettie M. (McElroy) McBee in Lone Grove, Okla. She married Edgar C. Furr June 2, 1940. He preceded her in death. She graduated from Atoka (Okla.) High School in 1940. She was a mother and homemaker. After her children were raised, she worked doing various jobs. She was a member the First Baptist Church. She later was a charter member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, a mission church of the First Baptist Church in Liberal. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, quilting and sewing, going to the local senior citizens centers and playing dominoes. She is survived by two sons, Wayne Furr and wife, Phyllis, Norman, and Delbert Furr, Fort Smith, Ark.; two daughters, Mary Elaine Munsell and husband, Doug, Liberal, and S. Olene Hanshy, Sands Springs, Okla.; one brother, Alfred McBee and wife, Alberta, Bethpage, Tenn.; three sisters, Bessie Wisniewski, Ozark, Ark., Opal Springer, Ozark, and Azalea Wright, Delores, Colo.; seven grandchildren; six great- grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Charlie and Cleveland McBee; two sisters, Elnoria Muller and Effie Culbertson; one grandson, Eddy Furr; and one great-grandson, Dustin Thomas. Graveside funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Tipton Cemetery in Tipton, Okla., with the Rev. Harold Gaches presiding.
