7. David J. Goodlett , clerk 1864 , served as clerk for four different terms, and made an excellent officer. He was born in South Carolina , in 1804 ; and married a sister of Col. John H. Hansell . For many years after Mr. Goodlett came to the county, he was a farmer and a merchant. In 1872 he was thrown from his horse and lamed for life. His wife died in 1874 , and he in 1878.
