Death
OXFORD - Edward A. "Ed" Furr Jr., 69, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. A native of Tupelo, he was born Oct. 9, 1934, to the late Edward Allison Furr Sr. and Nancy Dodds Furr. He was a retired lieutenant colonel with the Army National Guard. He lived most of his life in Tupelo and worked primarily in real estate development. He had been a resident of Oxford for the past 18 years, where he worked as a mental health counselor at Haven House. He was a former member of the Tupelo Jaycees and the Civitan Club. He was a member of the North Oxford Baptist Church and the Oxford Exchange Club. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Maynard Furr. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Glenwood Cemetery in Tupelo with the Rev. R.W. Moffett officiating. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors of Tupelo is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include a daughter, Allyson Furr Robertson and husband, Terry, of Germantown, Tenn.; a son, Edward A. "Al" Furr III and wife, Daniela, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a brother, Bill Furr and wife, Donna, of Nashville; three grandchildren, Chris Robertson and West Robertson, both of Germantown, and Katharina Furr of Colorado Springs. Pallbearers will be Mike Maynard, Danny Maynard, Bob Maynard, Rick Maynard, James Tyson and Gary Reifers. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
