Death
Grand Prairie, Texas - Patricia A. Furr, devoted wife and loving mother, passed away June 2, 2023. She was a devout Christian, deeply civic-minded, and known as simply the nicest lady you could ever meet. Funeral: 10 a.m. Tuesday June 13, 2023 at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, Arlington. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Greenwood Funeral Home, 3100 White Settlement Road, Fort Worth, Texas. Patricia was born June 8, 1945 in Fort Worth. With deep family roots to Fort Worth, she was great-granddaughter to North Fort Worth Pioneer, Thomas Marion Thannisch. She graduated from Polytechnic High School. She would later get an Associate's Degree in Medical Records from Tarrant County Junior College, and worked for several years at Arlington Memorial Hospital as a Medical Records Technician. Patricia was an active volunteer throughout her life. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother for each of her three sons. In the 1970's she worked suicide hotlines, providing hope to those who had little. She had endless energy for others. In the early 1990s, she worked tirelessly with the Kooken Elementary PTA to have an ADA accessible playground constructed, which would eventually bear her name. She grew up in the Baptist Church, but would join Good Shepherd Methodist Church after marrying James Furr in 1980. God and family were always important in James and Patricia's life. They knew if you put God first all the rest would fall into the right place. Patricia's death was preceded by the love of her life and husband for 41 years, James Furr. She left behind three sons, two daughters-in-law, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The family welcomes flowers for Patricia. If desired, donations may be made in her name to the Methodist Children's Home.Star-Telegram on Jun. 11, 2023
