William de Ferrers, 7th Earl of Derby, who upon doing homage fo r his lands in 32 of Henry III (1248) had livery of Chartley Cas tle and the other lands of his mother's inheritance; and the sam e year he sat in the parliament held in London, wherein the kin g made so stout an answer to his impetuous barons. He married 1s t Sybil, one of daughters and co-heirs of William Mareschal, Ear l of Pembroke, and by her had 7 daughters.
