Death
Tuesday, October 16, 2007 — Burns Vance Springer, 84 of Salisbury died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007 at his residence. Mr. Springer was born July 2, 1923 in Stanly County, the son of the late Zeb Vance Springer and Naomi Furr Springer. Mr. Springer graduated from Oakboro High School the class of 1941, was a veteran of the US Army Air Force during World War II and had been a Railroad Clerk for C & O Railroad, Newport News for 41 years where he retired from, and attended Salisbury Bible Methodist Church. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a sister, Elise Walker, and on May 8, 2001 by a son, Timothy Springer. Survivors: wife; Annie Mae Lucas Springer, married March 4, 1950, sons; Blaine Springer and wife Karen, Steven Springer and wife Debra of Salisbury, daughter-in-law, Lynn Springer of Thomasville, brother, Troy Springer and wife Shirley of Rural Retreat, Va., sister, Ramerle Fusco of Medford, Oregon, six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Powles Funeral Home of Rockwell. Funeral is 2 p.m.Thursday at Salisbury Bible Methodist Church, conducted by The Rev. Leroy Archibald, pastor, and The Rev. B. J. Walker, former pastor. Burial will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens, Rockwell with military graveside rites by the Rowan County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to Rowan Regional Home Health & Hospice, 720 Grove Street, Salisbury, NC 28144. Powles Funeral Home of Rockwell is serving the Springer family.Endnotes
