Death
Mr. Daniel “Uncle Danny” Hillman Parker, age 79, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2020, at his son’s home. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Friday, October 2, 2020 at the Pineville Church of the Nazarene, 8614 Pineville-Matthews Road in Charlotte. Rev. Aaron Stone and Rev. Dewey Wise will officiate. Burial will follow at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens, 700 Heckle Blvd, in Rock Hill. Born in Charlotte, N.C., Daniel was a son of the late John Vernon Parker and Virginia Hillman Parker. During the Vietnam War, Mr. Parker served in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Alaska. He was a dedicated worker and was employed as a press operator for 54 years; first for Package Products which became, Sonoco Engraph and later, CCL Label. Danny enjoyed tinkering around his house and was an avid fan of “Gunsmoke” and “The A-Team”. Mr. Parker is survived by his son, Vernon Parker and his wife, Nicole of Rock Hill; his sister, Janet Bostian and her husband, Guy;his brother-in-law, Rick Furr (Mary Ruth) of Huntersville, N.C, three sisters-in-law, Linda Manus of Weddington, N.C., Carol Tate (Larry) of Waxhaw, N.C. and Iotha Parker of Davidson, N.C.; and grandchildren, Texas Parker, Lenora Parker and Cheyenne Welch. Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Furr Parker (2019); his parents, John and Virginia Parker; brother, Emil Parker; sister-in-law, Teresa “Terry” Furr Potts; brothers-in-law, Lawrence Terry Potts, Sr. and Tommy Manus; and nephew, Timmy Manus. Memorials may be made to the Hendersonville Nazarene Camp, c/o Candy Watson, 454 McMurray Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at the Pineville Church of the Nazarene.Endnotes
