Death

MONROE -- Mrs. Furr, age 85, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2004 at Britt Haven Nursing Home in Charlotte. Mrs. Furr, was born on November 29, 1918 in Union County, and is the daughter of the late Samuel and Anna Helms. Hattie was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Furr, and by one grandson Travis Furr. A funeral service to remember the life of Mrs. Furr will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of McEwen of Monroe, with the Dr. C.J. Bordeaux officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2004 at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe. Mrs. Furr is survived by her two sons, Michael G. Furr, and Joey L. Furr, both of Monroe; one daughter, Myra Lowery, of Charlotte; one sister, Minnie Miller, of Concord; six grandchildren, David Furr, Sarah Furr, Josh Furr, Carla Lowery, Amanda Furr, Caleb Furr; two great-grandchildren, Michael T. Furr and Emily M. Gabriel. Arrangements are in the care of McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe, 204 South Main St., Monroe, NC 28112. (704) 289-3173.
