Death
KANNAPOLIS -- Jacob Guy Foster, 83, 415 Russell St., formerly of Aiken, S.C., died Sunday (Dec. 14, 2003) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord. Born Oct. 7, 1920, in Cabarrus County, Mr. Foster was a son of the late Jack and Laura McEachern Foster. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. In 1951, he began employment with Dupont Corp., Aiken, where he retired in 1980. He was also a constable with the Aiken County Sheriff Department and a security guard with Sizemore Security in Augusta, Ga. An organizer of the New Ellentown Fire Department in New Ellentown, S.C., he attended Mount Zion Freewill Baptist Church, Kannapolis. He was preceded in death by wife Jacqueline Furr Foster. Survivors include wife Margie Jarvis Foster; daughter Jackie Foster Fleming, Conway, S.C.; sons Robby and Ricky Foster and Jacob G. Foster Jr., all of New Ellenton; sister Dorothy Eudy and Ethel Maxwell, both of Concord; stepchildren Bobby Linker, Smithfield,Va., AlvinLinker, Charlotte, Joyce Osborne, Mooresville, Elizabeth Brown, Rockwell, Carol Shoe, Myrtle Beach, S.C., Janie Evans and Doug Linker, both of Concord, and Sue Pless, Kannapolis; 34 grandchildren; and 42 great-grandchildren. Services: tonight, Whitley's Funeral Home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Joe E. Rahme. Burial, 1 p.m. Tuesday, Southlawn Cemetery in Aiken. Visitation: 6-7 tonight at the funeral home.
