Death
Estelle Philips Furr, 85, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998, at St. Dominic's Hospital in Jackson. She was a native of Tupelo. She attended Blue Mountain College. She worked for The Peoples Bank & Trust Co., where she was one of the first women bank officers in the state. In later years, she was employed by the State Board of Health. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Tupelo and active in the arts. In 1988, she moved to St. Catherine's Village in Madison. She was the widow of Archie M. Furr of Tupelo. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Glenwood Cemetery in Tupelo with the Rev. Larry Goodpaster officiating. A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998, at the Chapel of St. Catherine's Village in Madison. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors of Tupelo is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include one daughter, Betsy Furr Kimbriel of Jackson; one son, Dr. Philip M. Furr of Memphis; two brothers, Joe Philips of Tupelo and J.R. Philips of Salt Lake City, Utah; two grandchildren. Memorials may be made to St. Catherine's Village, 200 Dominican Drive, Madison, Miss. 39110.Endnotes
