KANNAPOLIS — Lula Shalp Furr, 89, of Shelby Convalescent Center, Shelby, a former resident of Concord, died Friday, May 15, 1992, at Cleveland Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. The funeral will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. today in Lady’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in West Concord Cemetery. The body will remain at the funeral home, where the family will be 30 minutes prior to the service. Born Aug. 22, 1902, in Cherokee County, S.C., she was a daughter of the late George Washington and Frances Watts Shalp. A retired employee of Plant 4, Cannon Mills Company, she was a member of Friendly Chapel Baptist Church of Lawndale. Mrs. Furr is survived by a half- brother, Bill Cook of China Grove, and a number of nieces and nephews.The Salisbury Post, Salisbury, North Carolina, May 16, 1992
