ASHEBORO - Robert J. "Bob" O'Brien Jr., 76, of Asheboro died Monday, June 3, 2019, at Randolph Health, Asheboro. r. O'Brien was born Oct. 6, 1942, the son of Robert J. and Pauline Sims O'Brien. Bob was a native of Joliet, Ill., retired from Yellow Transportation and a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He was a graduate of High Point University, a Spanish interpreter in the local court system and an animal lover, particularly of his dogs. He was known and loved by many and will be greatly missed. He is survived by fiancée, Valeria Brown; and step-grandchildren, Ashley Effle Cothran and Jaime Edward York, both of Asheboro. The family will receive friends Friday, June 7, from 6-8 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro, N.C. The funeral service will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 512 W. Wainman Ave., Asheboro, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Philip Kollithanath.
