Death
Hopewell – Mrs. Leah Wells Furr, 49, of 331 Byrd St., wife of Bennie B. Furr, died Sunday in Medical College Hospital, Richmond, following a lengthy illness. A native of Mecklenburg County, she was the daughter of the late James Walker and Rosa Lee Nash Wells. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Hopewell. Other survivors include: two daughters, Miss Barbara Furr of Hopewell and Mrs. Gloria Morton of Richmond; three sons, Bennie B. Furr of Hopewell, Donald E. Furr of Richmond and Wilmer B. Furr of Fort Worth, Tex.; five sisters, Mrs. A.C. Wells and Mrs. William Wells, both of South Hill, Mrs. Walter Wells of Baskerville, Mrs. Dewey Wells of Union Level, and Mrs. Helen Piercy of Meredithville; two brothers, Henry Wells of Baskerville and Clarence Wells of Union Level; and eight grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Gould Funeral Home with the Rev. C. Robert Stevens, D.D., pastor of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George County. The family will receive friends today between 7 and 9 p.m. at the Gould Funeral Home.The Progress-Index, Petersburg, Virginia, February 26, 1968
