Death

CONCORD -- Mrs. Ruth Ellen Furr, 70, of 150 Alliance Avenue SW, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 26, 2003 at her home. She had been in declining health for the past ten years. Funeral will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 1st at Southside Baptist Church, Rev. Robert Leonard officiating, followed by burial in West Concord Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Saturday. Mrs. Furr was born in Cabarrus County on April 8, 1932, daughter of the late Zeb Vance and Mary Polk Kennedy. She was the owner and operator of Furr's Beauty Shop and a member of Southside Baptist Church. Mrs. Furr is preceded in death by one son, Marvin E. (Gene) Furr. Survivors include her husband, Mr. Marvin M. "Jack" Furr; son, Mr. Timmy Furr and wife Andrea of Concord; sisters, Mrs. Nell K. Ferguson and husband Lowell, Mrs. Helen Tassey and husband Paul, and Mrs. Jean Simpson and husband Brice, all of Concord; brother, Mr. Eddie Kennedy and wife Linda of Concord; and grandson, Brandon Furr. Memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church, 561 Union Cemetery Rd., Concord, NC 28027 or to Hospice of Cabarrus, PO Box 1235, Concord, NC 28026.
