Death
MURPHY -— Sylvia Waggoner, 71, died Monday, July 31, 1995, in a Murphy medical center. A native of Zwolle, La., she lived in Cherokee County since 1948. She was the daughter of the late Dewey and Gussie Mae Mobley Furr. She had been the supervisor of the Cherokee County Election Board for the past 15 years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Murphy Chapter No. 10 and also was a member of Murphy First United Methodist Church and Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Waggoner Bryson and son, Billy Waggoner. She is survived by her husband, Bill Waggoner; daughter, Martha Waggoner of Murphy; son Terry Waggoner of Murphy; brother, Dewey Furr Jr. of Tampa, Fla.; grandson, John Floyd. Services will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, with the Rev. Carl Johnson officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Sunset Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chuck Clayton, Johnny Roberson, Roger Gibson, Jerry Breedlove, David Sumpter, Stan Barnett, Leon Hardin and Dr. Brian Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Laney and Jerry Townson. The family will receive friends 6 to 7:45 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
