Death
CONCORD - Mrs. Helen Virginia Talbert Foster, formerly of Barnhardt Ave., passed away Wednesday at Transitional Health Care. Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Carolina Memorial Park officiated by Rev. Brenda Newman, pastor of Mount Olivet United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at Wilkinson Funeral Home. At the remaining time, they will be at the home of her son, 3900 Davidson Hwy. Helen was born July 12, 1918, in Concord to the late James Monroe Talbert and Bertie Furr Talbert. She was a retired secretary and book keeper for the Concord Tribune. Helen was a lifelong member of the W.G. Campbell Order of the Eastern Star, where she was a past Worthy Matron and a Representative to Florida from North Carolina. Helen was a member of Kerr Street United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert D. Foster in 1994, her son John R. Foster in 1990, and three brothers, James, William and Charles Talbert. Helen is survived by her son, James "Jim" D. Foster and wife, Willie; grandchildren, Margaret F. Biggers and husband, Fred, James "Jay" D. Foster, Jr., John R. Foster, Jr., and Angela Foster; sisters, Betty G. Talbert, and Mary Ruth Blackwelder and husband Clois. And special friends Ruby Wagner, and Shirley Allmon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Olivet UMC Building Fund, 301 Mount Olivet Rd., Concord, NC 28025 or to Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Ln., Kannapolis, NC 28083.
