Death
OCALA, Fla. - Marguerite Furr Gassmann, 94, died Monday at Surrey Place. She was born in 1910 in Oxford and lived there as a youngster as well as Eupora and Tupelo. She also lived in Columbus, Phoenix, Ariz., and Culpepper, Va., before moving to Ocala in 1972. She was a retired department store manager. Services will be held Monday at St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Ocala. Hiers Funeral Home in Ocala will handle the arrangements. Survivors include two nieces, Edna Price Ritter of Tupelo and Edna Avent Shellabarger of Oxford, and a nephew, William Furr of Nashville. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles A. Gassman; four sisters: Linda Furr Thibadeaux, Willie Myrl Furr Reel, Kate Furr Price and Carra Lee Furr Avent; and two brothers: Donald Paul Furr and Edward Allison Furr; and her parents William Allison Furr and Dale White Furr.Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal, Tupelo, Mississippi, October 15, 2004
