Vivian Colleen Furr, 89, of Indianapolis, was promoted to heaven on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, surrounded by her cherished family. She is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ whom she loved deeply and served all of her life. Colleen was born to Curtis Grober and Colleen Martin Grober in Alabama in 1934 and had lived in Galveston and Chicago, but grew up mostly in Fort Smith. Colleen committed her life to Christ at age 13 and was filled with the Holy Spirit at Bethel Assembly of God in Fort Smith where she met Harmon (Johnny) Furr. They were married on December 4, 1951 and two days later Johnny left for his military assignment to Germany as an Air Force Chaplain. After the Korean War they attended Central Bible College in Springfield, MO, then pastored the following churches over the next 51 years – Mountain Grove AG in Mountain Grove, MO, Cavanaugh AG in Fort Smith, Thayer AG in Thayer, MO, Bethel AG in Kansas City, MO, Pawhuska AG in Pawhuska, OK, Panama City First AG in Panama City, FL, Madison AG in Madison, TN, Minier AG in Minier, IL, and Lighthouse AG in Metropolis, IL. Colleen was a gifted piano player and vocalist and a wonderful pastor's wife. She worked alongside her husband as a choir director, musician, worship leader, women's ministry director, event organizer, Sunday School teacher, decorator, and prayer warrior. Her kind and cheerful personality caused her to be loved and respected by all who knew her. Colleen loved her family deeply and was happiest when she could pamper them and cook for them their favorite meals. Colleen was met in heaven by her loving husband, Harmon N. Furr, and her parents. Colleen is survived by a daughter, Brenda Furr; a son, Steve Furr (Elaine); three grandsons, Evan Smelser, Luke Furr (Nicole), and Jordan Furr; a granddaughter, Kasidy Juve (Nate); three great-grandchildren, Henry, Ezra and Mila Furr; a brother, Bill Grober (Patsy); and a nephew, Brian Grober.
