LAST WILL & TESTAMENT OF REUBEN ELLIS
Deceased
In the name of God Amen,
I Reuben Ellis of the county of Tishomingo and State of Mississippi, being of sound mind and memory and considering the uncertainty of life, do therefore make, ordain, publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament. That is to say, First, after all my lawful debts are paid, the residue of my estate, both real and personal I give, bequeath, and dispose of as follows, to-wit:
1st, I will to my son, William E. Ellis one hundred dollars to be paid to him on the final settlement and distribution of my estate as hereafter provided, which hundred dollars is not to be considered as a portion of his distribution share as hereafter provided.
2nd, I will to my beloved wife Elizabeth R. Ellis my Negro girl Medaline, together with her children that may hereafter be born, during my said wife's life-time, and at her death that said Negro girl, together with her children that my be born, to descend and be equally divided between my children William E. Ellis, Ira A. Ellis, Reuben D. Ellis and Sarah O. Kelsey, and my friend Mary Weston Ellis.
2nd,I will to my said wife all the ballance (sic) of my estate both real and personal during her widowhood, and at the expiration of her widowhood, all said last named property to descend and be equally divided between my children named above and said Mary Weston Ellis. My deceased daughter Mary Pickens received her portion of my estate during her life-time and consequently her heirs are not entitled to any portion of my estate hereafter to be divided.
3rd, I nominate and appoint my friend William Williams my Executor to this will.
Given under my hand and seal this 2nd day of August A D 1860.
