Death
WILL of JOHN SAMMONSIN THE NAME of GOD, AMEN.
I, John Sammon, senr of Greenville District and State of South Carolina, being sick and weak in body but of perfect sound mind & memory, and calling to mind the mortality of my body and all men is appointed to die, for the better settlement of my temporal affairs, revoaking all wills before made by me I do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following (viz) I give unto my [son] John Sammons two hundred acres of land, being the tract I bot of Gorman & part of the tract of land I bot of Slaton divided from the tract I live on by a new conditional line running from a small gum saplin to the road thence the road to a red oak, thence westward to a corner pine, thence so by west to the old line part of the land he has some years possessed, also my crops cut saw one cow and calf feather bed furniture to him his heirs and assigns forever. Item. I give to my son William E. Sammon two hundred acres of land more or less being the land & plantation I now!
live on being the land I bought of Brock of Tinsley & part of the tract I bot of Slaton one young sorrel mare or horse best as he needs one cow and calf one feather bed and furniture one third part of my still, each of his other brothers Walker Sammon & John Sammon the other two thirds of the said still, this still is not to be removed, the land & plantation is not to be possessed by him wholy till his Mothers death or marriage if such should happen, to him his heirs and assigns for ever.
Item. I give to my daughter Jeney Sammon one negro girl named Lucy two feather beds & furniture one cow and calf a horse beast as soon as it can be conveniently raised one hundred acres of land more or less being the land & plantation I bot of James Blackwell on the north side of Hawkins mill creek excluding the swamp but including the spring to her, her heirs and assigns for ever.
Item. I lend to my daughter Barbara Moore 30 acres of land and plantation, I bot of John W. Hansel with a small addition I made to said tract during her pleasure to live thereon, if she chooses not to occupy the said land I give the said land to her son Robert Moore or to be disposed of to her advantage.
Item. I lend to my loving wife Betty Sammon my land & Plantation or so much thereof as may be approved or agreed on between her & her son Wm E Sammon, with seven negroes stock of horses cattle & hogs household & kitchen furniture and plantation utensils & my all thats not before given or lent during her life or widowhood, but at her death or marriage if such should happen, I desire should, all but the land before given to my son Wm E Sammon which he is fully to possess at her death or marriage, I say all but the land be equally divided between my children, Patsy Hansel or her children for her or in her place, Edward Sammon or his children for him or in his place, Suckey Wynne, Richard Sammon, Walker Sammon, Polly Young, Nancy Young, Sally Montgomery, Janey Sammon, John Sammon, Barbara Moore and William E Sammon, I desire that my estate may not be appraised, I desire that my wife Betty Sammon have the power to take the liberty to help such of my needy children to any small a!
mt especially such as not been assisted, I desire that my just debts be paid out of the profits of my estate and lastly I nominate and appoint my wife Betty Sammon my son John Sammon and son Wm. E Sammon or either two of them to execute this my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this first day of January one thousand eight hundred and eight in the thirty third year of American Independence.

SOUTH CAROLINA
GREENVILLE DISTRICT
By David Goodlett Esq. Ordinary.
Whereas the Executor of the last will & Testament of John Sammon deceased hath made application to me in the Court of Ordinary for to have the last will & Testament proved approved and allowed of -----
These are therefore to cite all the relations, creditors & others concerned to be & appear before me in the Court of Ordinary to be held at my house on the 14th day of February 1812. Then and there to shew cause if any they have why the said last will & Testament shall not be proved in the due and solemn form of law.
Given under my hand at office this 8th of Feb of 1812.
