Death
Funeral services for Mrs. Elsie May Furr were held from the Peniel Baptist Church Wednesday, March 21, at 4 p.m. Mrs. Furr, wife of A. C. Furr, died unexpectedly at the family residence Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Furr was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Junius May of the McVay community, and a member of the Jackson Methodist Church. Services were conducted by Rev. Marshall Ford, Dr. H. Grady Ketchum, and Rev. James Palmer. Pallbearers, both active and honorary, were nephews of the deceased. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Cleo and Marvin Furr of Jackson; two grandsons, Mikie and Jimmy Furr; two sisters, Mrs. Elis Roberts and Mrs. Joe McLendon; and four brothers, William May and Carley May of Jackson; Johnny and Pringle May of Mobile. She is further survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Interment was in the church cemetery.The South Alabamian, Jackson, Alabama, April 5, 1956
