Death

Gerald Wayne McCann, age 45, of 1000 Newnam Rd, Lot#10, Pelham, NC, passed away on February 17, 2016 at Duke University Hospital. He was born on December 17, 1970 to Patricia Furr McCann and the late Robert Eugene McCann. Mr. McCann worked at Wal-Mart and was of the Baptist faith. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. In addition, Mr. McCann was a Nascar fan of Dale Earnhart Sr. and a football fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He is survived by his mother, Patricia McCann; wife, Diane Taylor McCann of the residence; brothers, Thomas Ray McCann and David McCann; sister, Carol Garner; step-daughters, Amanda Emerson, Hannah Emerson, and Shyane Taylor; step-grandchildren, Anthony Adkins, Kaleb Adkins, Elena Adkins, Abel Adkins, Destiny Emerson, and Landon Emerson; niece, Ashley Carter; nephews, Kale Carter, Kevin Carter, Robert McCann and Fiancéé Katie, and Daimon McCann. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016 for 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p .m. at Barker Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. The family will be at the residence of Mr. McCann’s brother-in-law, Jimmy Taylor Jr., 2268 Red Marshall Rd., Pelham, NC from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 19, 2016.
