LANCASTER — Mrs. Ruth Furr Hammond, 44, wife of George L. Hammond, died in Columbia Hospital Tuesday. She was born in Lancaster County, daughter of Dever and Lula Wright Furr. Surviving are her husband, one son, William Jack Bougher, with U. S. Navy; four step-daughters, Mrs. Frances Hargett, Mrs, Shirley Deese and Mrs. Carolyn Knight of Lancaster and Mrs. Catherine Phillips of Kershaw; three stepsons, Floyd, Sam and Ricki Hammond of Lancaster; two sisters, Mrs. Daisy Stogner of Charleston and Mrs. Ethel Rapeir of Lancaster, and two brothers, Dewey of Lancaster and Hurley Furr of Charleston. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Second Baptist Church. Friends may call at Mahaffey Funeral Home.The State, Columbia, South Carolina, September 16, 1967
