Pioneer Citizen Passes On Sunday AfternoonMr. T. Jefferson Clonts, a pioneer citizen of this county, passed away at his home near Hiram Sunday afternoon, January 15, after a brief illness. Funeral services were conducted 4 Bethel church Monday afternoon at two o’clock. Rev. J. W. Stephens, pastor of the church was in charge, and was assisted by Rev. E. C. Swetnam, of Gainesville, a former pastor, and Rev. Bullivan, of Douglasville. Interment was in the churchyard cemetery. Mr. Clonts was 72 years of age and was a leading citizen of this county; was always intensely interested in the civic, religious and political activities of the county and state. He leaves a large family connection and numerous friends to mourn his death. Surviving are, one daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Sims, of South Georgia, and two sons, Forest and Thomas Clonts, of near Powder Springs. Among those from Dallas to attend the funeral were Mrs. Salle Griggs, Mrs. Oliver Harris, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Bagby, Jr. Messrs. Jim Watson, Hugh, Bill, Gene and Tom Watson, C. N. Anderson, W. J. Baker, W.L. Denton, B. E. Croker, J. T. Lee and R. M. Fee.Endnotes
