Death
Walter Vick Curlee, Jr. surrounded by his loving family, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, July 23, 2017 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM, Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at Norwood Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Tom Rodriquez and Rev. Derrick Adcock will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12:30PM until 2:00PM, prior to service at the church. Mr. Curlee was born October 1, 1940, to the late Walter Vick and Ruth Furr Curlee. He was a faithful member of Norwood Church of the Nazarene. He worked for over 40 years as a waste water plant supervisor and upon retirement, he drove a truck for Porter Fabrications. Bill loved his family, friends and his church. He especially loved watching NASCAR and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their sports and hobbies. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Rodney ”Hoss” Parker and daughter-in-law, Robin Curlee. He is survived by his wife, Rosa Dennis Curlee of the home, sister Judy (Bob) Carpenter of Carthage, and his children, David Wayne Curlee of Aberdeen, Charles Michael Parker (Carolyn) of Norwood, Patricia Parker Drye (David) of Richfield, Bobby Wayne Parker (Tammy) of Cary, Dennis Ray Parker (Donna) of Albemarle, and daughter-in-law, Wendy Parker of Norwood. In addition, his grandchildren, Paul Curlee (Jessica), Chris Curlee (Mandy), Toni Kaye Weppelman (Justin), Melissa Meyers, Lisa Marker (Shane), Megan Harper (Michael), Meredith Parker, Donny Helms, Christopher Parker (Jodie), Daniel Parker (Katie), and Whitney Essick (Bradley); Great-grandchildren: Corey, Gracelyn, Jonah, Tyler (Summer), Nathan, Christopher, Taylor, Jeremiah, Savannah, Alex, Adan, Evan, Logan, Henry, Griffin, Kaylee, Dawson, Landrie, Jax, Holden, Mackenzie, Parker, and Liam; his best friend Gene Dennis; and nephews Ryder and Ryan.
